Litter mesofaunal activity in the grassland after surface treated by different origins of agrochemicals
Author: BANASHREE MEDHI
Abstract:
Investigation on the effect of agro-chemicals as one and two spray application of insecticide (Flubendiamide), acaricide (Fenazaquin), fungicide (Tricyclazole), IGR (Buprofezin), and water-soluble fertilizers (50: 40: 25 kg NPK/ha) on the abundance of litter mesofauna were carried out in grassland habitat cover with a thick mat of grasses, herbs and shrubs (Botanical garden). The results indicated that the plot treated with fertilizers showed significantly more toxicity to litter mesofauna (48.84). The order of toxicity to litter mesofauna was fertilizer > two applications of (2 FA) Tricyclazole (50.82)>Buprofezin (2 FA)(54.56)>untreated control (56.87). The least toxic treatment to litter mesofauna was fenazaquin (2 FA) (67.43), and was on par with fenazaquin (1 FA) (66.30). A significant reduction in litter mesofauna was noticed 30 days after treatment (DAT) over control in all the treated plots. The plots treated with fertilizers showed the maximum reduction in litter mesofauna over the control 10 and 95 DAT.
