Impact of agrochemicals on the population of litter podurid collembolans in the grass ecosystem

Abstract :
The efficacy of agrochemicals, including insecticide (Flubendiamide), acaricide (Fenazaquin), fungicide(Tricyclazole), IGR (Buprofezin), and water-soluble fertilizers (50:40:25 kg NPK/ha) on the abundanceof podurid collembolans in a grassland habitat covered with a thick mat of grasses was studied. Amongthe treated plots, 2FA of tricyclazole was more toxic on podurids. The fungivore podurid food chain wasaffected by tricyclazole. It was on par with toxicity with other treatments except for the treatment 1FAof fenazaquin, which harboured the highest population of podurids. There was an increase in populationon 10 DAT. However, a significant reduction in podurids was noticed on 30 DAT onwards. Maximum reduction was observed in 2FA of fenazaquin followed by flubendiamide 1FA and fenazaquin 1FA on10 DAT. On 30 DAT, fenazaquin 1FA and 2FA reported a reduction of podurids while, on 65 DAT, plots treated with 1FA of flubendiamide and tricyclazole registered a more than 450 per cent reduction over the control population. On 80 and 95 DAT, all the treatments showed positive effects over control.
