Do fungicides and herbicides have a similar toxic effect of insecticides on litter mesofauna?
Author : NGUYEN THI KIM THOA
Abstract :
The field experiment was conducted in the natural grassland ecosystem for 440 days. The results indicated that the application of chlorantraniliprole, buprofezin and plethora were more toxic to total litter mesofauna. The rest of the chemicals recorded a lower faunal population than the untreated control. Acaricide propargite is less toxic compared to dicofol which belongs to organochlorine. The abundance of total mesofauna significantly reduced 15 days after treatment (DAT) compared to before the treatment application. The faunal population increased from 30 to 110 DAT. Significantly higher total mesofauna was observed at 110 DAT, which was on par with 125 DAT in litter samples. However, the abundance of total mesofauna at 95 DAT was less than 435 DAT in litter samples. Soil moisture and temperature were known to have a marked influence on the abundance of litter mesofauna.
