Abstract:
The effect of agrochemicals as one and two applications of insecticide (Flubendiamide), acaricide (Fenazaquin), fungicide (Tricyclazole), IGR (Buprofezin) and water-soluble fertilizers (50: 40: 25 kg NPK / ha) on the abundance of litter and soil Collembola was studied in a grassland habitat covered with a thick mat of grasses (Botanical garden) in the University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK Campus, Bangalore. Among the treated plots, two foliar applications of tricyclazole were significantly more toxic to the Collembola population in litter and soil samples, followed by fertilizer, flubendiamide, buprofezin and fenazaquin. However, the effect was more pronounced in the foliar application of buprofezin 10 days after treatment. A significant relationship existed between Collembola abundance and in situ soil moisture. The contribution of abiotic factors to the abundance of collembolans was 73%. Further, the results showed that the influence of in situ soil moisture and maximum soil temperature on the abundance of Collembola was up to 67.6 per cent, respectively. The results also indicated that a unit change of in situ soil moisture and maximum soil temperature would lead to increases of 0.722 and 0.542 units in collembolan abundance, respectively.
