Agrochemicals effect on the populations of litter-dwelling onychiurid collembolans in grassland ecosystems

Abstract:
From August to February, the effects of various agrochemicals—specifically, the insecticide Flubendiamide, the acaricide Fenazaquin, the fungicide Tricyclazole, the insect growth regulator (IGR) Buprofezin, and water-soluble fertilizers (50:40:25 kg NPK/ha)—on the abundance of onychiurid collembolans in a grassland habitat was studied. The key finding was that there was no significant difference in the abundance of onychiurid collembolans among the different treatments. The plot treated with two foliar applications (2FA) of Flubendiamide registered the highest population at 3.69 per 100 grams of litter, while the plot treated with 1FA of Buprofezin recorded the lowest population at 0.35 per 100 grams of litter. Additionally, observed a reduction in abundance at 30 days after treatment (DAT), which further supports the main findings.
Key words: Buprofezin, Fenazaquin , Fertilizers, Flubendiamide, Onychiurids, , Tricyclazole.
